JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

The Skilled Carpenter is responsible for executing the rough and finish carpentry elements of residential remodeling projects. 

He/she has an extensive understanding of rough and finish carpentry methods and techniques and the ability to interact pleasantly and professionally with clients and trade partners. .

This individual:

  • is able to work independently or with a team, under the supervision of the Lead Carpenter or Project Manager.

Work Hours & Location

This is a full-time position averaging approximately 40-45 hours/week. Work hours are primarily between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Work is to be performed both at our office/warehouse, located at 780 Eden Rd., Lancaster, PA, and on location at job sites (typically within 30 minutes of our Lancaster office).

Key Responsibilities

Carpentry Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned carpentry activities in a residential remodeling setting.
  • Organize, transport, inspect, and install materials.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with team members to bring clarity to project details and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Work independently or with a team, under the supervision of the Lead Carpenter or Project Manager.

Customer Service

  • Ensure company and customer satisfaction through professional appearance, expert workmanship, and polite, timely communication.

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Able to perform carpentry at the highest level with minimal direct supervision.
  • Able to understand blueprint drawings and written specifications. Also understand work orders, change orders, and all other carpentry-related job documents.
  • Able to perform rough and finish carpentry to company’s standard of quality and according to the plans and specifications.
  • Able to lay out and install stud wall framing.
  • Possess an understanding of building code requirements.
  • Able to install standard wall-hung cabinetry and accessories.
  • Able to install pre-hung door units and windows.
  • Able to install interior trim, base, casing, crown molding, etc. with superior craftsmanship.
  • Maintain a safe and clean jobsite.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum 3 years construction experience (remodeling experience preferred)
  • Able to work legally in the USA
  • Able to provide your own transportation and basic hand tools

Not Required (But Nice to Have)

  • Able to lay out and install stairs for a basement or deck using a framing square.
  • Able to install and properly tape drywall.
  • Siding, aluminum capping skills
  • Understanding of water management and subsurface flashing
  • Able to do simple repairs in painting/staining, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and flooring.

  • $23-$31/hour depending on skill and experience
